NCPCR Rescues Over 3,800 Children from Child Labour
A **NCPCR** special campaign from June 12, 2026, to August 31, 2026, rescued children from child labour.
- NCPCR launched a special “Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation” Campaign.
- The campaign ran from 12 June 2026 to 31 August 2026.
- Over 3,800 children were rescued during this period.
- More than 575 FIRs were registered.
- NCPCR is a statutory body under Ministry of Women and Child Development.

India's First Geothermal Wells Commissioned in Ladakh
India achieved a milestone in clean energy with the commissioning of its first geothermal wells, advancing towards Net Zero by 2070.
- India's first two geothermal wells were commissioned in Puga Valley, Ladakh in July 2026.
- The ONGC Energy Centre commissioned these wells at over 14,000 feet above sea level.
- These 1,000-metre-deep wells will support India's first 1-megawatt demonstration geothermal power project.
- The National Policy on Geothermal Energy was notified in September 2025 by the MNRE.
